The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd., incorporated in Mumbai on 12th September 1947, is a leading public sector general insurance company in India. Originally formed as a subsidiary of The Oriental Government Security Life Assurance Company Ltd., it became a subsidiary of LIC from 1956 to 1973 until nationalization. In 2003, the company became fully owned by the Central Government. Known for its strong service traditions and customer focus, Oriental Insurance began with a first-year premium of Rs. 99,946 and has since grown into a trusted nationwide insurer.
